Programs We Support

Learn more about some of the great programs we are a part of.

The Andy Russell Celebrity Classic has been supporting the work of the Walter L. Bent Laboratory at the Department of Urology at UPMC in support of prostate cancer research and the C. Andrew Russell Laboratory for Head and Neck Cancer Research.

These labs were funded with the contributions of the Andrew Russell golf outing totaling $425,000. Since the payments were completed, monies have been going to the Department of Urology and specifically supporting the work of Dr. Joel Nelson.

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Sports Medicine Concussion Program, established in 2000, is the first of its kind and largest ongoing clinical service and research program that focuses on the diagnosis, evaluation and management of sports-related concussion in athletes of all levels.

The program’s internationally known team of clinicians and researchers are world leaders in studying the neurocognitive effects of sports-related concussion and pioneering the development of better methods of post-concussion evaluation to determine when it is safe for an athlete to return to sports.
